Workshop call

The International Conference on Mine Closure is a fixture on the calendars of many mining professionals, providing topical and high-quality papers and presentations on a range of topics of immediate interest and relevance.

In addition to exciting technical sessions and exhibitions, Mine closure features a series of half and full-day workshops. We invite the submission of workshop proposals preceding the main conference.

The conference workshops aim to emphasize emerging and current techniques and technologies applicable to mine closure and related to technical and business issues.

For those who are interested in organizing a workshop, please send the expression of interest not later than Dec 25, 2019. Please address the following points in the expression of the interest.

Expression of interest on organizing workshop

  • Title of the workshop
  • Workshop Organizers (names, affiliation, and contact information)
  • Scope and topics of the workshop, including objectives and expected outcomes
  • Description of the target audience (If possible, estimation of the number of participants)
  • Rationale
    • Why is the topic current, important?
    • Why will the workshop attract many attendees, in addition to the authors?
    • How does the workshop differ from others, i.e., related workshops of similar topics? If appropriate, a description of past versions of the workshop, including the number of attendees, etc. If a similar workshop has been organized at recent conferences, please explain the similarities and differences.

Workshop proposal format

EACH WORKSHOP PROPOSAL (MAXIMUM 3 PAGES) MUST INCLUDE FOLLOWINGS:

Please note that the first section is addressed in the expression of the interest, and can be amended if a proponent feels necessary:  

  • Title of the workshop
  • Workshop Organizers (names, affiliation, and contact information)
  • Scope and topics of the workshop, including objectives and expected outcomes
  • Description of the target audience (If possible, estimation of the number of participants)
  • Rationale
    • Why is the topic current and important?
    • Why will the workshop attract many attendees, in addition to the authors?
    • How does the workshop differ from others, i.e., related workshops of similar topics? If appropriate, a description of past versions of the workshop, including the number of attendees, etc. If a similar workshop has been organized at recent conferences, please explain the similarities and differences.
  • A short biography of the organizers (up to 200 words per organizer)
  • Planned format of the workshop, including
    • Duration of the workshop: Half-day, Full-day, and tentative schedule
    • Format of the workshop (hands-on, collaborative and active learning environment for attendees are strongly encouraged)

Any particular space or equipment requests (Unique, creative and novel workshops formats are strongly encouraged)
